Why keep the curtains completely drawn during the entire coastal journey when you can fully enjoy the scenery along the way? Our private car service from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is the ideal choice for travelers who prefer not to take a sleeper bus. While buses may be cheaper, they run on a fixed schedule, offer little flexibility for sightseeing, and typically drop passengers off in Mui Ne with their luggage - leaving you to arrange your own transportation from there.
Mui Ne is where we live. So when you book a private transfer with Mui Ne Private Car, the 231-km journey becomes an extremely safe and enjoyable trip along one of Vietnam’s most beautiful coastal routes. Travel at a time that suits you, stop along the way whenever you want, and arrive directly at the entrance to your resort.

The route from Nha Trang to Mui Ne is one of the busiest routes for backpackers in Vietnam, and sleeper buses are the mode of transportation most people choose. This is a viable option, but you’ll have to make quite a few compromises: fixed departure times, beds that are too short for taller travelers, mandatory stops at rest areas chosen by the operator, and arriving at a drop-off point rather than directly at your accommodation.
The train isn’t an ideal alternative either. Trains run from Nha Trang to Binh Thuan Station, but Mui Ne is still quite a distance from the station, so you’ll end up having to hire a car - along with your luggage and after a long, tiring day.
With a private driver, the entire journey becomes a single, pre-arranged service. You depart at a time that suits you, keep your luggage in the same vehicle from the hotel lobby to the resort entrance, and have a driver who knows the route handle the three-and-a-half-hour drive.
And unlike the overnight bus, a car with a driver allows you to truly take in this stretch of coastline: the bays of Cam Ranh, the arid red earth around Phan Rang, the turquoise waters at Ca Na, and the sand dunes on the way to Mui Ne.
Good to know: Leaving Nha Trang between 8:00 and 9:00 AM clears the morning traffic and puts you in Mui Ne in time for an afternoon check-in and the beach. Tell us if you would rather travel later and arrive for dinner.
Three and a half hours is long enough that legroom counts as much as luggage space. Pick by group size and how comfortable you want the drive to be.
Kilometre marks are approximate. Your driver will take the fastest line on the day and fit the break around your plans.
Your driver will arrive at the hotel a little earlier than the scheduled time, with the air conditioning already turned on. He will help you load your luggage into the car and double-check with you to make sure everything has been loaded before leaving the city.
As you head south, the city of Nha Trang gradually thins out, and the road runs along the coast through Cam Ranh Bay - with its deep blue waters, anchored fishing boats, and headlands stretching out into the sea.
Next comes the expansive Bai Dai Beach, featuring newly built resorts and Cam Ranh International Airport, located a short distance from the beach. If you’re picking up passengers from a flight, this is where the road and the terminal meet.
South of Cam Ranh, the landscape becomes noticeably arid. Ninh Thuan is the driest province in Vietnam, and this is evident in the sparse shrubs, bare rock, cacti lining the roadsides, and terracotta-colored hills.
Farmland appears on the flat terrain near the coast - vineyards and grapevines, which are the province’s specialty, along with fields of garlic and onions, and the occasional flock of sheep.
Phan Rang–Thap Cham lies at the end of this stretch, a provincial capital steeped in Cham culture and an ideal place to rest if you haven’t stopped along the way.
This is the stretch of road where bus passengers often drift off to sleep. Past Phan Rang, the highway runs along the coast at Ca Na, where the sea turns a stunning pale jade green, standing out against the rocky headlands and fields of boulders.
Salt fields stretch out in white rectangles inland, cultivated by hand under the dry heat, while wind turbines tower on the hillsides above - this coastline boasts one of the most consistent wind currents in the country.
Passing through Tuy Phong and Phan Ri, the road turns into Binh Thuan Province, where dragon fruit orchards cover the fields and the first true sandy terrain appears along the coast.
The road branches off from National Highway 1 and heads toward the coast, and the scenery changes completely: vast sandy beaches, low scrub, white sand dunes, and freshwater lakes surrounding Bau Trang.
As you get closer, you’ll pass red sand dunes above the village and a fleet of round basket boats pulled up onto the beach at Mui Ne Harbor, along with a long stretch of resorts beginning to line the coast.
The driver will then take you to the resort entrance on Nguyen Dinh Chieu Street or wherever you’re staying. Before unloading your luggage, they’ll ask you to double-check the car for any forgotten items - such as your phone, headphones, charger, or passport - and will then help you carry your luggage and wish you a pleasant stay on the coast we know best.

One of the better routes in the country for breaking up the drive. All of these are on or just off the road.
A long, open beach south of Nha Trang that the highway runs beside for several kilometres. Early in the drive for a proper stop, but an easy few minutes if you want a last look at the Khanh Hoa coast.
A group of brick Cham temple towers on a hill just outside Phan Rang–Thap Cham, among the best preserved in Vietnam and still used for Cham festivals. A short detour off the highway and the most substantial sight on the route.
The highway runs along the water here, with pale turquoise sea on one side and salt pans on the other. There are roadside stops with drinks and shade, which makes it the natural place for your rest break.
The white dunes and lotus lake sit on the final run into Mui Ne, so you can visit on the way in rather than making a separate trip later. Best in the softer light of late afternoon.

Q1: How long does a private car take from Nha Trang to Mui Ne?
A: About 3 hours 30 minutes for the 231 km, south on QL1 through Cam Ranh, Phan Rang and Tuy Phong before the coastal turn-off to Mui Ne.
Q2: Is a private car better than the sleeper bus on this route?
A: The buses are cheaper but run to their own timetable, stop where the operator chooses and set you down at a drop point rather than your resort. A private car leaves when you like, keeps your luggage in one vehicle and travels in daylight so you actually see the coast.
Q3: Can we stop along the way for photos or a meal?
A: Yes, and this route rewards it. The Cham towers at Phan Rang, Ca Na bay and the white dunes near Bau Trang are all on or beside the road. Tell us what you want to see when you book so we can allow the time.
Q4: Will the driver stop for a rest break?
A: Yes, one break of 15 to 20 minutes is built in, usually around Phan Rang or Ca Na where there are roadside stops with restrooms and cold drinks. Ask for more at any point and your driver will find a safe place.
Q5: Can you pick us up from Cam Ranh International Airport instead?
A: Yes. The airport is south of Nha Trang and roughly on the way, so it is an easy pickup. Give us your flight number and we will track it and meet you in the arrivals hall.
Q6: How much does the transfer cost?
A: Per vehicle, one way: $60 for a sedan, $64 for a medium SUV, $69 for a large SUV, $99 for a 16-seat van and $120 for a 9-seat limousine. Fuel and road tolls are included.
Q7: Which vehicle should I choose?
A: Three and a half hours is long enough for comfort to matter. A sedan suits one to three passengers, a medium or large SUV gives a family more room, the 16-seat van suits a group, and the 9-seat limousine is the most comfortable option for the drive.
Skip the sleeper bus and see the coast instead. A private driver from Nha Trang to Mui Ne gives you a fixed fare, a departure at your hour, stops where you want them and a drop-off at your resort door. Send us your date, your Nha Trang pickup address, your Mui Ne resort and the number of passengers and bags, and we will reply quickly with a confirmed quote.
