The resort opened in 2013 as Aman's first Vietnam property, and the remoteness is the whole point of being there.

What that means practically: the last 20 km on ĐT702 are narrow coastal road through the national park, the resort entrance is unmarked from the highway side, and Grab drivers and local taxis routinely end up calling the resort for directions. A driver who knows this road, has the access confirmed, and calls ahead to the Amanoi reception before turning off QL1A that's what you're actually paying for.

2/ How far is Cam Ranh Airport from Amanoi?

The driving distance is approximately 62.1 km south on QL1A for roughly 40 km through Ninh Thuận, then east on ĐT702 into Vĩnh Hải commune and along the coast to the Amanoi entrance above Vĩnh Hy Bay. Travel time is around 1 hour 25 minutes under normal conditions. The QL1A section is fast. The ĐT702 section is slower winding, single-lane in places, spectacular.

Before your flight touches down, your driver already has the flight number and is tracking it. Cam Ranh is a manageable airport you clear arrivals and they're at the exit with a board showing your name. Bags loaded in two minutes, and you're moving.

Section 1 - QL1A South (~40 km, ~35 min)

From the airport, the car heads south on QL1A. This is the fastest part of the journey four lanes in places, smooth, passing through the edge of Cam Ranh city and then into the open landscape of Ninh Thuận. The province has the driest climate in Vietnam: sparse vegetation, salt pans glinting white in the sun, occasional cactus hedges that look more like northern Mexico than Southeast Asia. The light here is sharper than Nha Trang, the sky wider. It's worth looking up from your phone.

Section 2 - ĐT702 East into the National Park (~22 km, ~50 min)

At the ĐT702 junction, the road turns east and immediately changes character. The terrain rises, the road narrows, and within a few kilometres you're inside Núi Chúa National Park one of Vietnam's driest ecosystems, covered in dry deciduous forest and granite formations that look like they've been placed deliberately. The road follows the contour of the hills rather than cutting through them. It twists more than it looks on a map.

As you descend toward the coast, Vĩnh Hy Bay appears below turquoise, calm, framed by the hills on three sides. The fishing village of Vĩnh Hy is visible from the road: small boats, floating restaurants, a settlement that's been there long before the resort was built above it. The Amanoi entrance is a left turn off ĐT702 that's easy to miss if you don't know it. The driver calls ahead at this point so the reception is ready when you arrive.

Arrival at Amanoi

The car pulls through the gate and up the access road to the Central Pavilion. Someone from the Amanoi team is usually already outside. Your driver helps with the bags, does a quick vehicle check, and says goodbye. The transfer is done and whatever the stay has cost you, you've started it correctly.

About Amanoi - What You're Arriving At

Amanoi ("a peaceful place" in Sanskrit) opened in 2013 as the first Aman property in Vietnam - perched on a hillside inside Núi Chúa National Park, above a private beach on Vĩnh Hy Bay. The 100-acre property has 31 pavilions and villas spread through forested terrain, most of them invisible from each other. The architecture takes from traditional Vietnamese communal hall design curved tiled roofs, latticed screens, timber decks but the overall feeling is of something that grew from the landscape rather than being placed on it.

The bay below is part of a marine conservation area, which means the water is cleaner and less disturbed than most beaches on the Central Coast. Guests on the private beach can snorkel directly from the shore. The national park behind the resort has guided hiking and cycling through dry deciduous forest that's completely different from the lush greenery people expect of Vietnam sparse, rugged, quiet in the middle of the day.

When to visit:

• January to August: Ninh Thuận's dry season runs longer than most of Vietnam. Clear days, calm seas, excellent snorkeling visibility in the marine reserve. The ĐT702 road is at its easiest and the bay views from the resort are unobstructed. This is the primary window.
• September to December: Short rainy season. The coast here receives far less rainfall than Da Nang or Hội An a few weeks of unsettled weather rather than months. The resort is quieter, rates are lower, and the national park turns slightly greener. The transfer on ĐT702 is still comfortable in any weather.
• Arrival time: There's no bad time to arrive at Amanoi, but an afternoon arrival after 2pm puts you there with enough light left to walk the property before dinner.
