Da Nang to Marble Mountain by Private Car

Marble Mountain is about 11 km from Da Nang city center, a drive of just 20 to 30 minutes. The cluster of hills holds caves, old pagodas and viewpoints over the sea. With a Da Nang to Marble Mountain private car, you are picked up at your address and driven straight to the mountain gate, with no waiting for a bus and no changing cars on the way. Most visitors spend 2 to 3 hours at the site. When you finish, you can head back to Da Nang, or continue to Hoi An instead, because the mountain stands right on the road to Hoi An, only about 20 km before it.

Da Nang to Marble Mountain Travel Q&A

Is Marble Mountain on the way from Da Nang to Hoi An?
Yes. The mountain stands beside the coastal road, about 11 km out of Da Nang and about 20 km before Hoi An. Every Da Nang to Hoi An drive passes it. That is why it works as a stop inside a Da Nang to Hoi An private car trip, instead of a separate trip on another day.

We check out in the morning and cannot check in until the afternoon. Can we visit Marble Mountain in between?
Yes. We pick you up at checkout with your luggage. The bags stay in the car while you visit the mountain. After the visit, we drive you to your Hoi An hotel for check-in. You confirm this plan with us when you book, so the waiting and the second leg are part of one fixed price.

There are five mountains. Which one do we climb?
Only one of the five is open to visitors: Thuy Son, the Water Mountain. It is the largest of the group, and everything in this article is on it or at its foot: the caves, the pagodas, the tower and the viewpoints. The other four mountains are the view around it, and the stone carving village spreads out at the base.

How hard is the climb?
The main climb is 156 stone steps to the first level of Thuy Son. The steps are steep and uneven, and they turn slippery after rain, so wear shoes with a grip, not sandals. If the steps are too much, there is a glass elevator on the east side of the mountain: it covers the main climb for 15,000 VND one way. Inside the site there are more steps to the caves and the viewpoints, and those have no elevator.

Marble Mountain or Monkey Mountain: we only have time for one. Which should we pick?
They are different trips. Marble Mountain is caves, pagodas and stone steps, close to the city and on the way to Hoi An, so it fits inside a moving day. Monkey Mountain, on the Son Tra Peninsula north of the city, is the Lady Buddha statue and wide sea views, and it is a trip out and back in the other direction. If your day is already going south to Hoi An, Marble Mountain is the one that costs you no extra road.

What is the difference between Gate 1 and Gate 2?
Both gates sell the same entrance ticket, but they start your visit in different places. Gate 1, on the west side, is stairs only, and it climbs toward Tam Thai Pagoda. Gate 2, on the east side, is where the elevator is, below Linh Ung Pagoda. If anyone in your group wants the elevator, tell us when you book and your driver drops you at Gate 2.

From Da Nang Airport to Marble Mountain

Many travelers start this trip at the airport. The airport is about 12 km from the mountain, a drive of 20 to 30 minutes. This is exactly how the pickup works:

Book the car for your landing time.
Send us your flight number when you book, together with your landing time.

We track your flight.
We follow your flight before you land. When a flight is delayed, we see the delay in the tracking and set the pickup time again to match your new landing time, so your driver is there when you actually land.

Meet your driver at the arrivals exit.
Your driver stands at the arrivals exit holding a name board with your name on it. Come out of arrivals and look for the board. Your driver stays at that exit, and you can message us on WhatsApp at any point and we guide you to each other.

Drive to the mountain.
Your luggage goes in the car, and the drive to Marble Mountain takes 20 to 30 minutes. An early landing suits this trip well: the mountain opens at 7:00 AM, and the morning climb is the coolest and quietest of the day. After your visit, the same car takes you to your hotel in Da Nang or Hoi An.

Your Journey to Marble Mountain

Step 1: Pickup in Da Nang

Your driver comes to your hotel or address in Da Nang at the time you booked, or waits at the airport with a name board. Your Da Nang to Marble Mountain private car starts at your door, so your group and your luggage travel together in one car.

Step 2: The Short Drive South

The drive takes 20 to 30 minutes down the coastal road. Your driver chooses the best route on the day, based on traffic and road conditions. At the mountain, the driver drops you at the gate you agreed, Gate 1 for the stairs or Gate 2 for the elevator, and confirms the meeting point for when you come down.

Step 3: The Climb and the Road On

You visit the mountain at your own pace, for 2 to 3 hours. Your driver waits at the agreed point. The driver helps you with your bags, checks the car with you so nothing is left behind, and drives you back to Da Nang or on to Hoi An, as your booking says. That is the end of your Da Nang to Marble Mountain private car trip with Mui Ne Private Car.

What to See at Marble Mountain

Thuy Son is a small mountain with a lot packed into it: cave temples, old pagodas, a tower and viewpoints over the coast. These are the places most visitors plan their climb around:

Huyen Khong Cave

The largest cave on the mountain. A natural opening in the roof lets a shaft of light fall into the chamber, onto the altars and statues below. It is the stop most visitors remember from the whole climb.

Xa Loi Tower and the Viewpoints

The stone tower stands above the pagodas, and the viewpoints near it look out over the whole coast: Non Nuoc Beach below, the city to the north and the road south to Hoi An. On a clear morning this is the widest view of the visit.

Linh Ung Pagoda

There are two pagodas of this name on the mountain's ground. One sits on Thuy Son itself, near the elevator side. The other, in the photo, stands at the foot of the mountain in Non Nuoc, and its gate is where many visits start or end.

Am Phu Cave

At ground level near Gate 1, Am Phu is the mountain's second cave, and it runs on its own ticket of 20,000 VND. Inside, stone scenes show the Buddhist ideas of heaven and hell: bright temple models above, and dark chambers with statues of punishments below. The imagery is strong, and some parents skip it with small children.

Non Nuoc Stone Carving Village

At the foot of the mountain, the streets of Non Nuoc village are lined with stone workshops and showrooms. Carvers shape everything here, from small animals you can hold in one hand to Buddha statues taller than a house. Walking the village costs nothing, and it is the natural last stop before the car takes you on.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can we buy a stone statue at Non Nuoc village and carry it in the car?
Small carvings, yes. The shops wrap small pieces well for travel, and they ride in the car with your luggage. Large statues are different: the shops arrange delivery or shipping for those, because a big stone piece is too heavy and too easy to damage in a car. If you already know you want a large piece, tell us before the trip and we plan the stop around the shop's delivery.

Someone in our group cannot climb stairs. Can they still come?
Partly, yes. The elevator at Gate 2 covers the main climb to the first level, and the pagoda and the stone village at the foot are on flat ground. But the caves and the high viewpoints are reached by stone steps, with no elevator. A group often splits here: those who climb go up, and those who do not stay at the pagoda and the village, with the car close by.

Is Marble Mountain open on public holidays?
Yes. The site opens every day of the year, from 7:00 AM to 5:30 PM, public holidays included. The ticket booths stop selling before closing time, so a visit that starts in the middle of the afternoon still leaves you enough time on the mountain.

Our flight leaves in the evening. Can we fit Marble Mountain in before the airport?
Yes. The mountain is about 20 to 30 minutes from the airport, so a morning climb fits well before an evening flight. When you book, give us your flight time and we plan the day backwards from it, so you reach the airport with time to spare.

Is there an entrance fee for the stone carving village?
No. The village is a working street of workshops and showrooms at the foot of the mountain, and walking it is free. You pay only for what you buy.
