Hung Temple
Hung Temple is essentially a temple complex dedicated to the Hung Kings, the legendary prehistoric founders of Vietnam. According to tradition, the temple sits atop the prehistoric capital of Van Lang, chosen by King Hung I after visiting 99 sites but finding none that satisfied him. The temple itself is relatively new and well-maintained, so visitors can enjoy a leisurely stroll, but the real draw is that the temple gives Vietnamese culture a new look. In fact, the festival known as the Hung Kings Commemoration Festival, held on the 10th day of the third lunar month every year, has been recognized by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity for its connection to Vietnamese culture and national identity.
