The route from Phong Nha to Na Meo Border

Because the drive takes more than 8 hours, we usually suggest leaving Phong Nha very early in the morning, around 5:00–6:00 AM. Doing a cave tour in Phong Nha? We recommend finishing your tours the day before and leaving for Na Meo the next morning. Starting this long trip in the afternoon is not a good idea because you may arrive after the gate has closed.

Bring snacks, water and some cash. Much of the route goes through mountain areas with few shops, and phone signal may be weak in some places. Small cash is handy for food and small purchases on the way.
